1st Day of Kindergarten!

Today was Ryder's first day of school!
This little guy is just 2, so I decided to name his school "Tot School" :) We will be focusing to talking mainly because of his speech disorder, but we will also be focusing on colors, coloring, and numbers.
We started our morning off with pictures, prayer, and then the Pledge of Allegiance. I decided to get small flags instead of a big flag. The boys loved waving the flag around!
Then we had calendar time! He wrote in the date and did the weather!
Next he wrote in the number 1 on our 100s chart.
Ryder loved the 1s, 10s, 100s pocket chart with the straws. He had a million questions about this! Hopefully as we move on and get more straws the concept will get easier to understand. After this we worked on his 3 sight words for the week (a, all, am).
The first two weeks are very gentle. Getting them in the routine of doing school. We will be learning about creation, so today our Bible lesson was on Day 1. He cut out the number 1 which represented light and darkness.
This is Ryder gluing the number one on the poster paper.
Mercer is focusing on the color red! He saw this picture and said "apple!" I was so proud! Even though its cherries... His favorite color right now is yellow so I am thinking we might should have started with yellow... Ryder is cutting out his verse about Creation Day 1.
This is the first page of Ryder's creation book he is making! I can't wait to see how it looks all finished! And Mercer is peeling paper off all the new crayons I just bought him...

All in all today went good! The boys slept in later than usual which was nice! I got to get ready in peace! Ryder was confused at why Mercer isn't doing Kindergarten papers too... Mercer was a little bit of a handful, but not at all like last year! It went much more smoothly! He just runs in and out between the school room and play area. I can't wait to see how tomorrow goes!

The Night Before the First Day of Kindergarten!

These are the books that Robbie read to Ryder tonight before bedtime!

These are the signs that I made today for the kiddos to hold up in the morning for pictures!

I can't believe my oldest starts Kindergarten in the morning! I have spent the better part of the day wrapping up last minute details and just getting so excited and anxious about tomorrow! I will post pictures tomorrow of the first day!

Our School Room

We split our upstairs room into half playroom/half school room. The only new additions for this school year include a new bulletin board and the totes on top of the book case. I am hoping that Mercer will be a little more cooperative this year during school time and that the busy bags will keep him busy! The items in the tote are only to come out during school time.
