Unit 21: BUTTERFLY

We learned “God can make me new."
The letter is Bb
These were our books this week.
 MATH
Ryder is working on Math Lessons for the Living Education Book 1.
PHONICS
Ryder had several phonics and handwriting worksheets this week. He completed Lesson 39 in All About Reading Level 1.

 ART
This week Ryder learned about mirror images.
He also learned that butterflies are symmetrical. The boys had fun making felt butterflies!

 BIBLE/SCIENCE
Just as caterpillars make an amazing change, God can make an amazing change in us! We also talked about the story of Zacchaeus.
Ryder learned about Monarch butterflies and he drew a picture of one.
He also drew the lifecycle of a Butterfly, but I didn't take a picture of it.
For the past two weeks we have been observing the changes a caterpillar makes! When they arrived, they were tiny!
Then they drew bigger and bigger!
About a week after they arrived the caterpillars started attaching themselves to the top of the cup and started making their chrysalis.
Yesterday all the caterpillars had successfully formed their chrysalis so I moved them to the "Butterfly Garden." Hopefully in another week we will have 5 butterflies!
MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Tchaikovsky: Sleeping Beauty Ballet Suite ("Panorama").

We also discussed 911. I found this book at Walmart and I highly recommend it! They boys love it!

We discussed several Bible verses this week and sang the song "The Wise Man Built His House Upon the Rock."
It was very cold this week so instead of going outside and searching for rocks I just bought a rock collection kit! Ryder really enjoyed examining the rocks with the magnifying glass!
We also talked about volcanos and made our own "mini" version of one. He thought the lava was so cool!

 MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Strauss: Thunder and Lightning Polka.
