Unit 24: VEGETABLES

We learned “God gives me all that I need."

 These were our books this week.
 MATH
Ryder is working on Math Lessons for the Living Education Book 1.
PHONICS
Ryder had several phonics and handwriting worksheets this week. He completed Lesson 45 in All About Reading Level 1. He also read several BOB books and Usborne Readers.






 BIBLE/SCIENCE
We took a field trip to the grocery store and checked out all the veggies! They boys loved this! We also soaked bean seeds overnight in water, opened them up the next morning, and examined the tiny bean plant inside.
  MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Vivaldi: The Four Seasons (Spring: I. Allegro). Since it was the first week of Spring, they painted a picture of Spring with watercolors while listening to the music.


Mercer played with Busy Bags this week!

Unit 23: FOX

We learned “God's Word makes me wiser than my enemies."

 These were our books this week.
 MATH
Ryder is working on Math Lessons for the Living Education Book 1.
PHONICS
Ryder had several phonics and handwriting worksheets this week. He completed Lesson 42 in All About Reading Level 1. He also read several BOB books and Usborne Readers.






 BIBLE/SCIENCE
We learned that foxes have excellent hearing! And they are similar to dogs in many ways, but different too.
 He learned about different animal habitats and separated pictures of animals by Land, Air, and Water and made a poster.
 We discussed Ephesians 6 and put on the full armor of God. I love this poster!
 ART
Ryder read "The Gingerbread Boy" and he used Draw-Write-Now to draw a Gingerbread man.
 MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Rachmaninoff: Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini (Variation no. 18).
 Mercer enjoyed playing with puzzles and Busy Bags!
UPDATE: Our butterflies came out of the cocoons! Finally!

Unit 22: FROG

We learned “I use by tongue wisely."

 These were our books this week.
 Our caterpillar is getting longer!
 MATH
Ryder is working on Math Lessons for the Living Education Book 1.
PHONICS
Ryder had several phonics and handwriting worksheets this week. He completed Lesson 41 in All About Reading Level 1. We read the poem "Five Little Tadpoles."






 BIBLE/SCIENCE
The lessons and Bible verses were on using our tongue to speak good and kind words. And also not to lie. We sang the song "Oh, Be Careful Little Tongue What You Say."
We studied the Life Cycle of Frogs. We learned about tadpoles! And we also learned that bright colored frogs (blue, red, yellow) are poisonous!
MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Mozart: Horn Concerto no. 3 in E-flat Major (II.Romanza).
