WEEK 15

BIBLE/HISTORY
The memory verse for this week was "He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command is rewarded." Proverbs 13:13 Ryder practiced handwriting by writing out the Bible verse and he went over the verse daily. We also did one devotional from "My Big Book of 5-minute Devotionals." We reviewed the definition of patience. We also learned about the books of the Bible 1 Chronicles through Nehemiah. We studied The First Sin (Adam and Eve), Cain and Abel, and the Descendants of Adam. And added pictures of these events to the timeline.

 READING/LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder did Lesson 27 and 28 in All About Reading Level 3. He also had several handwriting and phonics worksheets. He did First Language Lessons Level 1 Lessons 50 through 51. He continued with reading a story from his Bible Reader about Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel. And he illustrated the stories in his Bible notebook.

  MATH
Ryder finished Lessons 55 through 57 in Horizons Math 1.
 SCIENCE
The topic was "Stars and Planets." We read the Usborne book: Things Outdoors, Usborne the Big Book of Stars and Planets, and watched a Magic School Bus video.
 ART
This week Ryder finished up his Usborne Art Book. He studied "Big Ben, London" by Andre Derain. This bright London scene shows boats sailing down the river Thames, past the Houses of Parliament. The artist filled the sky with dots and dashes spreading out from the sun, to show its shining rays. Ryder colored his own view of Big Ben using any color he wanted and the same "dots and dashes" technique.
Ryder started "Enjoying Art Together" this week. We studied the artwork "Springendes Pferd" by Franz Marc. Ryder did a great job examining the picture and answering questions about the painting.
PRESCHOOL for MERCER
This week Mercer did the letter O. He also spent time tracing shapes this week.

And he colored two using blues and purples for a colder, darker look.
