WEEK 4

BIBLE

This week we started our memory verses. This week it was "...I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12. We also listened to the song on the Seeds Family Worship CD!

 

 SPELLING

Ryder did Lesson 4 and got a 100 on his spelling test!

 

ENGLISH

Ryder did Unit 1 Lesson 13-16. He is still studying asking and telling sentences.

 HISTORY

This week Ryder learned about Indians. The boys made a wigmam and tepees. We also read chapters 5-9 from the read aloud book "Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrams."

 MATH

Ryder did Lessons 13-16.

 

 HEALTH
Ryder studied about respecting the privacy of others.

 

ART

Ryder looked at different examples of Iroquois artwork (masks, quill weaving, and wampums). He answered questions about each of these.

 

 PRESCHOOL
Mercer did F and G this week. And he did some work again with rhyming words.

 SCIENCE

This week the boys learned about asteroids, comets, and meteors. They played review games and made galaxies out of glitter glue pens!

MUSIC

We listened to the song "God Bless America" this week.

WEEK 3

BIBLE

This week we talked about how Jesus saves, living like Jesus, and Jesus as a child.

 

SPELLING

Ryder did Lesson 3 and got a 11/12 on his spelling test!

 

ENGLISH

Ryder did Unit 1 Lesson 9-12. He reviewed all about sentences.

 HISTORY

This week Ryder learned about Jamestown. We also started the read aloud book "Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrams" and read chapters 1-4.

 MATH

Ryder did Lessons 9-12. He also got a 100 on his first test!

 

HEALTH
Ryder studied about respecting other people's property.

 

ART

Ryder looked at different pieces of art work and found the complementary colors!

 

 PRESCHOOL
Mercer did D and E this week. And he did some work again with rhyming words. .

 SCIENCE

This week the boys reviewed how the moon rotates around the Earth and how the Earth rotates around the sun. They made a craft to demonstrate this. They also studied constellations and did two crafts on it!

MUSIC

We listened to the song "God Bless America" this week.

WEEK 2

BIBLE

This week we talked about names and our favorite names. We also talked about Jesus being in the Old Testament. Ryder colored Jesus' name and the meaning. This will go on a poster board where we will add the names of Jesus throughout the year.

 SPELLING

Ryder did Lesson 2 and got a 100 on his spelling test!

 

ENGLISH

Ryder did Unit 1 Lesson 5-8. He learned about telling and asking sentences.

 HISTORY

This week Ryder learned about Christopher Columbus. The boys made the three ships ~ Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. We added Leif and Columbus to our timeline that we started in 1st grade!

 MATH

Ryder did Lessons 5-8.

 HEALTH
Ryder studied about manners at mealtime.

 

ART

Ryder made a picture using complementary colors.

 PRESCHOOL
Mercer did B and C this week. And he did some work again with rhyming words. He is really doing well! And we are loving All About Reading Pre-Reading Curriculum.

 

He also traced and wrote letters for the very first time ever this week and even wrote his name!

 SCIENCE

This week we met for the first time for our Science Co-op. The boys loved it! They talked about how everything in space revolves around the Sun (even though the first astronomer believed everything revolved around Earth). They colored a picture of the solar system, did a gravity experiment with balls and paper, and made galaxies out of glitter!

WEEK 1

BIBLE

This week we talked about names and the meaning of names. Ryder wrote out the meaning of his name on paper.

 SPELLING

Ryder did Lesson 1 and got a 100 on his spelling test!

 ENGLISH

Ryder did Unit 1 Lesson 1-4. He learned about sentences and phrases.

 HISTORY

This week Ryder studied the Pledge of Allegiance and he also colored and labeled a map of the USA and of the world. He learned the names of the continents and oceans. He also learned about Leif Ericsson and we read an Usborne book about Vikings.

 MATH

Ryder did Lessons 1-4.

 HEALTH
Ryder studied about gentle words this week.

 ART

Ryder did an art lesson online about complementary colors. He watched a video and then got to use the "paint" feature on the computer to create his project.

PRESCHOOL
Every morning Ryder and Mercer start out doing calendar time. Mercer get to do his on this board - he does the weather, day of the week, etc. Ryder has a calendar notebook and for the month of August he is recording the daily high temperature which he will use to make a graph at the end of the month. Then Mercer worked on the letter A this week. He traced capital A's, made an A out of pipecleaners, sang the ABC song, and Ziggy the Zebra helped him learn about rhyming words using body part names!
