WEEK 7

BIBLE
We continued the study on Jesus being the bread of life and discussed the story about the woman sharing her last bit of bread with Elijah and what communion mean. The Bible verse this week was ..."I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35
 
SPELLING
Ryder did Lesson 7 and got a 100 on his spelling test.
 
ENGLISH
Ryder did Unit 1 Lesson 25, Review 1 and 2. He also had his first English test and got a 32/34!
 
HISTORY
This week Ryder learned the pioneers in Michigan. We also talked about canoes and made a paper canoe. Ryder also learned the 5 Great Lakes. We also read chapters 5-8 in "The Courage of Sarah Noble."
 
 HEALTH
This week Ryder learned what it means to be a talebearer this week.
 MATH
Ryder did Lessons 25-29.
 
ART
Ryder learned about different ways to draw lines. He got to pick 5 lines to draw himself.
PRESCHOOL
Mercer did L, M, and N this week. And he did some work with tracing shapes and learning about compound words.


 MUSIC
We listened to the song "America" this week. We focused on the third verse.


SCIENCE
Our co-op did not meet this week due to the teacher being sick, so she sent out all the activities and lessons for us to do at home! We studied Mercury, Venus, and Earth. The boys drew and colored Mercury and Venus, they learned interesting facts and watched movies on the three planets, they learned about Mercury not having an atmosphere and we did a hot and cold project for that, they made a model of Mercury with craters, and they colored a worksheet and made a book about the different layers of the Earth!

WEEK 6

BIBLE
We talked about Jesus being the bread of life and discussed the story about manna and Moses and Aaron and Jesus feeding the 5,000. The Bible verse this week was ..."I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35
 

 SPELLING
Ryder did Lesson 6 which was a review lesson and got a 100 on his spelling test.
 
ENGLISH
Ryder did Unit 1 Lesson 21-24.
 
HISTORY
This week Ryder learned about New Amsterdam/New York and about making butter in Pioneer times. We started a new read-aloud this week, "The Courage of Sarah Noble."
 
HEALTH
This week Ryder learned about behaving in public and helping the elderly. Also, we discussed how people may look different than us, but everyone was made by God and we are all perfect to Him and special in our own way.
 MATH
Ryder did Lessons 21-24.
 ART
Ryder looked at different artwork of the Mayflower and we discussed the colors, shapes, and movement of the artwork.
 
PRESCHOOL
Mercer did J and K this week. And he did some work again with rhyming words.


MUSIC
We listened to the song "America" this week. We focused on the second verse.

SCIENCE
This week our co-op focused on the Sun and the solar system in general. The boys painted their sun for the solar system model they are making.

WEEK 5

BIBLE
We continued with memorizing the Bible verse from last week. "...I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12. We also listened to the song on the Seeds Family Worship CD! We read several verses in the Bible about being "the light" and God and Jesus being "the light."
 
SPELLING
Ryder did Lesson 5 and got a 10/12 on his spelling test.
 
ENGLISH
Ryder did Unit 1 Lesson 17-20.
 
HISTORY
This week Ryder learned about Pilgrams. He made an oiled window and he planted corn just like Squanto taught the Pilgrams to grow corn. We also finished the read aloud book "Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrams."




 
 MATH
Ryder did Lessons 17-20. He got a 113/115 on his test!
 
ART
Ryder looked at different examples of Native American bead work and he created his own bead design on the computer. 

 PRESCHOOL
Mercer did H and I this week. And he did some work again with rhyming words.



 
SCIENCE
This week our co-op took a field trip to the Pink Palace to watch the iMax movie "Hidden Universe."

MUSIC
We listened to the song "America" this week.
