WEEK 24

BIBLE

We continued our Matthew study this week and finished chapter 9 and 10.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder did Spelling Lesson 24 and got a 25/25 on his spelling test.

They both did handwriting.

Ryder did lesson 38-40 this week in English.

Mercer did Lesson 50-51 in All About Reading Level 1.

Ryder had reading time every day. He finished reading the book "Wheelnuts! Craziest Race on Earth! Desert Dustup" and started reading the book "Wheelnuts! Craziest Race on Earth! Spooky Smackdown."

For read aloud time we read chapters 24-27 in "Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper."

GEOGRAPHY

This week we finished our study of Norway. The boys did a flag worksheet and we studied about their flag and what it stands for. We also did a Norwegian Number Activity. We counted from 0 to 10 in Norwegian and we did a few Math problems on the board using their written form of numbers!

 

SCIENCE
This week we read in our "Living World Encyclopedia" about seasonal changes. Then we read about animals' seasonal behaviors in "Properties of Ecosystems." We talked about migration, hibernation, estivation, different animals that migrate and hibernate, and that the length of the daytime is what triggers seasonal behaviors for animals! They boys made a spin wheel about migration and hibernation!

 

MATH

Mercer did lessons 93-96 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 58-61 in Teaching Textbooks.

 

CO-OP

For the Science portion of co-op they dissected owl pellets!

WEEK 23

BIBLE

We continued our Matthew study this week and read some more in chapter 9. We also read about Bulgaria in "Window on the World."

LANGUAGE ARTS

Ryder did Spelling Lesson 23 and got a 16/16 on his spelling test.

They both did handwriting.

Ryder did lesson 34-37 this week in English.

Mercer did Lesson 47-49 in All About Reading Level 1.

Ryder had reading time every day. He finished reading the book "Stone Fox" and started reading "Wheelnuts! Craziest Race on Earth! Desert Dustup."

For read aloud time we read chapters 20-23 in "Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper."

 

GEOGRAPHY

This week we continued our study of Norway. We read facts about Norway and colored a picture of it. Ryder also did a historical timeline worksheet. The geography-themed vocabulary words that Ryder learned about this week were lake and stream.

MATH

Mercer did lessons 89-92 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 54-57 in Teaching Textbooks.

 

MUSIC

We listened to the songs "The Mulberry Bush" and "The Circle Goes Around" on our WeeSing CD.

WEEK 22

BIBLE

We continued our Matthew study this week and read some more in chapter 9. We also read about Romania in "Window on the World" and the boys colored their Norway John 3:16 sheet.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Ryder did Spelling Lesson 22 and got a 16/16 on his spelling test.

They both did handwriting.

Ryder did lesson 31-33 this week in English.

Mercer did Lesson 44-46 in All About Reading Level 1.

Ryder had reading time every day. He finished reading the book "Who Was Christopher Columbus?" and started reading "Stone Fox."

For read aloud time we read chapters 16-19 in "Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper."

 

GEOGRAPHY

This week we studied Norway. We located it on our map, labeled a map with bodies of water, surrounding countries, and other European countries, read about Europe and Norway in "Children's Atlas of God's World" and read about Europe and looked at different maps of Europe in our classroom atlas. The geography-themed vocabulary words that Ryder learned about this week were fjord and promontory.

MATH

Mercer did lessons 85-88 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 50-53 in Teaching Textbooks.

 

MUSIC

We listened to the songs "Row, Row" and "Little Frogs" on our WeeSing CD.

 

CO-OP

For geography the kids studied Scotland and made the flag out of tissue paper. They also did an art project making the "plaid" pattern that most Scottish people wear as clothing fabric. For science, they each picked an animal they have studied so far this year and gave a speech on it. Mercer picked to talk about chimps and Ryder picked to talk about geckos.

WEEK 21

BIBLE

We continued our Matthew study this week. We finished up chapter 8 and started chapter 9.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Ryder did Spelling Lesson 21 and got a 16/16 on his spelling test.

They both did handwriting.

Ryder did lesson 30 this week in English.

Mercer did Lesson 42-43 in All About Reading Level 1.

Ryder had reading time every day. He finished reading the book "Encyclopedia Brown: Boy Detective" and started reading "Who Was Christopher Columbus?"

For read aloud time we read chapters 12-15 in "Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper."

 

GEOGRAPHY

This week we studied United Kingdom. We located the country on the map, did a few student sheets including one on map reading, colored a flag sheet, watched a video on Big Ben, read facts about the country, and read about kids that live in Europe in the book "Children Just Like Me."

SCIENCE

We finished up reading the chapter in our Apologia Land Animals textbook on primates.

MATH

Mercer did lessons 81-84 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 46-49 in Teaching Textbooks.

 

MUSIC

We listened to the song "British Isles" on our geography song CD.

 

CO-OP

For science, the kids did some work in their Apologia notebooks on primates. For geography, they studied about Stonehenge and built a model of it! They also did a few worksheets on Stonehenge.
