WEEK 21

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 22-24 in All About Reading Level 3, week 18 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and Lesson 14 in handwriting. He also did Sonlight Language Arts 2 Week 4 which consisted of spelling words with two syllables, copy work, journal writing, reading in his reader and answering comprehension questions, and 8 pages in Explode the Code Book 4. 
 
Ryder did Fit It Grammar Week 19 on prepositions, took 2 timed reading tests, did week 18 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller. He will finish this group of words and have his test next week.
 
MATH
Mercer did Day 142-149 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 69-70 and quiz #10 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
   
 SCIENCE
Mercer learned about liquids and did an experiment with thin and thick liquids.
Ryder learned about eclipses and the origin of the moon. He also took his Chapter 7 test.






 
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 21 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Australia and Japan this week.
Ryder learned about the Presidents Kennedy and Johnson this week. He also learned about the state government this week.

CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
BIBLE
The boys continued their daily bible reading.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the timpani. They listened to music played by the timpani.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 6 Week 18 this week. This week we read about the ten men with leprosy in the Preschoolers Bible, talked about thankfulness, colored a squirrel greeting card, read some stories in the Margaret Wise Brown Treasury, matched animals together, pretended to be squirrels, and made the squirrel bible verse poster. I love these pictures of the girls with their acorns and squirrel that they colored! They both held them up right in front of their face for the picture! Oh! And we also practiced counting the squirrels and acorns.

WEEK 20

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 20-21 in All About Reading Level 3, week 17 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and Lesson 13 in handwriting. He also did Sonlight Language Arts 2 Week 3 which consisted of spelling words with suffixes, copy work, adjectives, and writing with dialog, reading in his reader and answering comprehension questions, and 8 pages in Explode the Code Book 4. 
 
Ryder did Fit It Grammar Week 18 on it's vs. its, took 2 timed reading tests, did week 17 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and had a test.
 
 


MATH
Mercer did Day 136-141 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 65-68 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
   
 SCIENCE
Mercer took his chapter 6 test. He started on Chapter 7 which is about matter and he studied about solids.
Ryder made a model of the moon, learned about the moon's movements such as revolution and rotation, and the moon's phases.



 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 20 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Israel, India, and China this week.
Ryder learned about the Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, and Eisenhower this week. He also did a study of Martin Luther King Day and Inauguration Day.



CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
BIBLE
The boys continued their daily bible reading.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the percussion section of the orchestra. They listened to music played by the percussion instruments.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 6 Week 17 this week. This week we read about baby Jesus in the Preschoolers Bible and listened to the songs "I Thank God for You" and "The Wheels on the Bus." This week was a snowy week for us, so not much tot school happened!

WEEK 19

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 17-19 in All About Reading Level 3, week 16 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and Lesson 12 in handwriting. He also did Sonlight Language Arts 2 Week 2 which consisted of spelling words with suffixes, copy work, creative writing focusing on action verbs, learning about similes, reading in his reader and answering comprehension questions, and 8 pages in Explode the Code Book 4. 
 
Ryder did Fit It Grammar Week 17 on adverbs, took 2 timed reading tests, did week 16 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and had a test.
 
MATH
Mercer did Day 130-135 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 63-64 and quiz #9 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
   
 SCIENCE
Mercer learned about animal marks.
Ryder started Unit 3 (Moon and Oceans) Chapter 7 (The Moon) this week. He learned about the moon's properties such as shape, size, atmosphere, temperature, mass, and gravity, the moon's light, and the moon's surface such as the Maria, mountains, rilles, and craters. He also did a "moon math" worksheet.
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 19 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Italy, Kenya, and Egypt this week.
Ryder learned about the Presidents Coolidge and Hoover this week. He also learned about the United States military, four years at West Point, and Three Days of Marine Basic Training.
 

CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
BIBLE
This week we started something different for the remainder of the school year. Both boys have daily reading Bibles, so they started on January 1st reading their assigned chapters everyday. We are excited to see them accomplish this goal throughout this year!
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the tuba. They listened to music played by the tuba.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 6 Week 16 this week. This week we made our unit poster, ate brown foods such as peanut butter and pretzels, played a "copy me" game, went on a color hunt to find things that were brown, read about Ravens giving Elijah good food in the Preschoolers Bible, colored a shape coloring sheet, and read the squirrel poem. We also practiced saying "thank you."
