WEEK 29

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 39-40 in All About Reading Level 3, week 26 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, Sonlight Language Arts 2 Week 12 which consisted of spelling words, copy work, and (attempting) to write a poem about a fruit. He also read in his reader and did 8 pages in Explode the Code Book 5. He also worked on Handwriting Without Tears.
 
This week Ryder continued with Easy Grammar 4. He started focusing on verbs this week. He took 2 timed reading tests, did week 26 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and took a test.
 
MATH
Mercer did Day 17-20 of Easy Peasy Math 2.
Ryder did Lessons 96-98 and quiz #14 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
Both boys worked in their Math Minutes workbooks this week.
    
 SCIENCE
Mercer finished up chapter 9 with a worksheet and took his chapter 9 test.
Ryder learned about man's responsibility with the Earth's resources such as choosing energy resources and conserving resources (reduce, reuse, recycle). He also took his chapter 10 test.
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 29 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer learned about nurses in his Community Helpers book.
Ryder learned about American technology, going from tin cans to smart phones, the travels of a piece of mail, and the voice of America.
Both boys did a holiday study on Good Friday/Easter.
 
CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
BIBLE
The boys continued their daily bible reading.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the keyboard instruments. They listened to music played by keyboard instruments.
 
TOT SCHOOL
The girls did Unit 8 Week 26 on Forgiveness. We read "Zacchaeus Climbs a Tree" and "A Boy Who Ran Away" in the preschooler's Bible, we read a poem about a Tiger, we read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom," and they put black stripes on a picture of a tiger that had no stripes.

WEEK 28

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 37-38 in All About Reading Level 3, week 25 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, Sonlight Language Arts 2 Week 11 which consisted of spelling words, copy work, and retelling a story. He also read in his reader and did 8 pages in Explode the Code Book 5. He also worked on Handwriting Without Tears.
 
This week Ryder continued with Easy Grammar 4. He started focusing on verbs this week. Mercer did Day 11-16 of Easy Peasy Math 2.
Ryder did Lessons 92-95 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
Both boys worked in their Math Minutes workbooks this week.
    
 SCIENCE
Mercer learned about the moon's shape and the stars.
Ryder started chapter 10 on the Earth's resources. He learned about resources for living things, soil, water, trees, energy resources, water energy, wind energy, solar energy, and fossil fuels.
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 28 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer learned about doctors in his Community Helpers book.
Ryder learned about America's God-given resources, power to run America, Roscoe Wind Farm, and Government and Agriculture.
Both boys did a holiday study on St. Patrick's Day.
 
CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
BIBLE
The boys continued their daily bible reading.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the tubular bells. They listened to music played by the tubular bells.
 
TOT SCHOOL
The girls didUnit 8 Week 25 on Forgiveness. The girls listened made their unit poster, learned about the color orange and the tiger, ate orange foods (oranges, peaches, cantaloupe, and cheese), talked about forgiveness, did the number 3 worksheet, made their Bible verse poster, colored the greeting card, and colored the worksheet with different animals we have learned about and we also reviewed the different animals.

WEEK 27

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 35-36 in All About Reading Level 3, week 24 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, Sonlight Language Arts 2 Week 10 which consisted of spelling words, copy work, and writing a paragraph on explaining the steps to putting jam on bread. He also read in his reader and answered comprehension questions and finished Explode the Code Book 4. He also worked on Handwriting Without Tears.
 
This week Ryder continued with Easy Grammar 4. He took 2 timed reading tests, did week 24 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and took a test.
 
 
MATH
Mercer did Day 6-10 of Easy Peasy Math 2.
Ryder did Lessons 90-91 and quiz #13 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
Both boys worked in their Math Minutes workbooks this week.
    
 SCIENCE
Mercer took his chapter 8 test and started chapter 9 on the sun, moon, and stars. He learned about the sun, the path of the sun, and the moon.
Ryder took his chapter 9 test.
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 27 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer learned about teachers in his Community Helpers book.
Ryder learned about making money, America's free economy, the life of a dollar bill, and how we pay for government this week.
 
CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
BIBLE
The boys continued their daily bible reading.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the celesta. They listened to music played by the celesta.
 
TOT SCHOOL
The girls started Unit 8 Week 24 on Friendliness. The girls listened to "Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone" and "Love One Another." We read "The Little Puppy" in A Big Treasury of Little Animals, made a verse card, colored the shapes on their color sheet, and read "Through the Roof" in the preschooler's bible.

WEEK 26

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 33-34 in All About Reading Level 3, week 23 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, Sonlight Language Arts 2 Week 9 which consisted of spelling words, copy work, and more on quotations, dialog and attibutions. He also read in his reader and answered comprehension questions and did 8 pages in Explode the Code Book 4. He also worked on Handwriting Without Tears.
 
This week Ryder continued with Easy Grammar 4. He took 2 timed reading tests, did week 23 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and took a test.
 
 
 
MATH
Mercer did Day 1-5 of Easy Peasy Math 2.
Ryder did Lessons 86-89 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
Both boys worked in their Math Minutes workbooks this week.
    
 SCIENCE
Mercer learned about the uses of sound.
Ryder learned about abrasion, soil, characteristics of soil, layers of soil, erosion and deposition, water and wind erosion, water and wind deposition, ice erosion and deposition, gravity erosion, and people and erosion.
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 26 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer learned about police officers in his Community Helpers book.
Ryder learned about the American justice system, crime and punishment, Chuck Colson and Prison Fellowship, and the Supreme Court.  He also learned about the presidents Carter and Reagan.
 


CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
BIBLE
The boys continued their daily bible reading.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the glockenspiel. They listened to music played by the glockenspiel.
 
TOT SCHOOL
The girls started Unit 8 Week 23 on Friendliness. The girls studied and traced the number 2, we read about Barnabas being a good friend in the preschooler's Bible, they pretended to be puppies, reviewed colors, shapes and animals we have learned about so far, colored a nursery rhyme picture, and colored a greeting card.
