Unit 18: ZEBRA

We learned “I can't hide anything from God."
The letter is Zz
 These were our books this week.
 MATH
Ryder finished through Lesson 164 in Abeka Math K. We also started Math Lessons for the Living Education Book 1.
 
PHONICS
Ryder had several phonics and handwriting worksheets this week. He completed Lesson 31 in All About Reading Level 1.






 BIBLE/SCIENCE
We read Bible verses and talked about how we can’t hide from God. We used our globe to review Antarctica and to talk about Africa since that is where Zebras live. Ryder made a poster of animals that live in Africa.
 MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Clark: Trumpet Voluntary. They boys had toilet paper tubes and pretended they were trumpets. They marched around the room like they were in a band!

Unit 17: KANGAROO

We learned “I am safe in God."
The letter is Kk
 These were our books this week.
 
 MATH
Ryder finished through Lesson 160 in Abeka Math K.
 
PHONICS
Ryder had several phonics and handwriting worksheets this week. He completed Lesson 28 in All About Reading Level 1.






 
 BIBLE/SCIENCE
We read Bible verses and talked about one of King David’s Psalms
to help us understand that God keeps us safe. 
We used a kangaroo pattern from to make this kangaroo mama & joey.
 We also made this poster of several animals that hop!
Ryder learned that kangaroos live in Australia. We got out the globe and located Australia. We talked about oceans, continents, and islands, too!
 
MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Jessel: Parade of the Wooden Soldiers. They pretended to be in a parade and marched around the room.

Unit 16: PENGUIN

We learned “I show love to everyone, especially my family."

 These were our books this week.
 
 MATH
Ryder finished through Lesson 155 in Abeka Math K.
 
PHONICS
Ryder had several phonics and handwriting worksheets this week.






 BIBLE/SCIENCE
We learned that Emporer Penguins keep the egg safe on their webbed feet for two months until it hatches! While the father is keeping the egg warm, the mother is out looking for food!


 We learned that penguins live in a cold climate where icebergs are common. We experimented by making our own "mini" icebergs! We discovered that a you can only see a little bit of the iceberg on top of the water,,,
 but there is still a lot more of the iceberg under water!

 Ryder labeled the parts of a penguin!
 We used the globe to learn about the equator, North and South Poles, and Antarctica.
 We talked about how penguins show love for their families, and we learned some Bible verses showing how family members should treat one another (Husbands, love your wives…wives, follow the lead of your husband…children, obey your parents... love your brothers and sisters...think of others as better than yourself...look out for the good of others) Ryder made a card for his daddy with a picture of an Emporer penguin on the front!
 MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Waldteufel: The Skaters (Waltz). They pretended to glide on ice skates!
 
100th Day of School!
Today was our 100th day of school so we had a party! We finished our 100 chart/straws, read a book, and had fun snacks!





 This week Mercer played with lots and lots of Legos!

Unit 15: ELEPHANT

We learned “I will remember what God has done for me."

Ryder finished through Lesson 151 in Abeka Math K.
 

PHONICS

Ryder had several phonics and handwriting worksheets this week. He completed Lesson 25 in All About Reading Level 1.






 BIBLE/SCIENCE
This week we learned about how elephants do not forget! So we played a Memory Game where I lined up several objects, Ryder would turn around and I would remove one or two and he would turn back around and tell me which ones were missing! We learned elephants live in Africa and Asia and we located those countries on a globe. We discussed many things that God has done for us and made a list.


MUSIC
This week the boys listened to Bach: Brandenburg Concerto no. 4 in G Minor (II. Andante)
