 BIBLE/HISTORY
We continued the study of the character trait "Attentiveness." On Monday, I read the boys a history story on Abe Lincoln that coincided with the trait. We also review the definition daily.

 The boys shook the jar!

And then we waited... and waited... for 2 hours before we observed the soil in the jar. Clay, sand, and stones sank to the bottom and "humus" floated on top. Humus is a black layer of rotten plants.
 ART
This week Ryder colored "Woman playing with a kitten" by Toyohara Chikanobu. We talked about Kimonos and he decorated the kimono in the picture with stickers.

This week Mercer did the letter B. He loved doing the do-a-dot pages again!
He does pretty well with tracing.

And he LOVES when I say its scissor time!
He also got to work with a glue stick this week and glued pictures of buses on a big B.
Ryder's first day of Renewed Moms was Thursday! We love our co-op that we go to once a week. Ryder is taking a science class about habitats of animals, a Legos class, and a Bible class on the book of Timothy. My Bible study this year with the moms is on Spiritual Gifts, Titus, and Timothy. Looking forward to a great year with precious people!

WEEK 1

We started My Father's World 1st Grade curriculum last week! The week was fantastic and I am so happy with the curriculum I have chosen for the boys.

Here is the bulletin board I put together for the school year. It has the calendar, Hundreds chart, and the character trait we are studying.
We start our mornings off listening to a song from the Seeds Family Worship CDs. The boys love the music and this starts our day off on a positive note! Then we do the pledge and say a prayer.
Ryder fills out his calendar and hundreds chart every day.
 BIBLE/HISTORY
Every month during this school year we will be focusing on a character trait from the Character First curriculum. The month of August we are focusing on Attentiveness. Monday the boys watched a nature video about White-Tailed deer and colored a picture of the deer. Every day we went over the definition of attentiveness.

Each morning we did a devotional from "My Big Book of 5-minute Devotionals." LOVE this book! We also talked about "history" and scrolls this week. The boys made their own scrolls!

 READING/LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder is finishing up the last few lessons in All About Reading 2 before we move onto level 3. He also had several handwriting worksheets this week. Some of the worksheets will be made into a Handwriting Scroll in a few weeks. Stay tuned!

 MATH

 ART
This week Ryder colored Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. He loves drawing, coloring, and stickers! So I see art being one of his favorites this school year.
 PRESCHOOL for MERCER
Each week I am focusing on a letter for Mercer. This week was "A is for ambulance." He loved the do-a-dot pages!
He is also going to be working on tracing this year.
Here he is sorting capital and lowercase A's!
He used scissors for the first time too!

Both boys did excellent this week! They were both so excited to start school and had great attitudes! I am looking forward to Week 2!
