READING/LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder is finishing up the last few lessons in All About Reading 2 before we move onto level 3. He also had several handwriting worksheets this week. Some of the worksheets will be made into a Handwriting Scroll next week. Stay tuned!
BIBLE/HISTORY
We continued the study of the character trait "Attentiveness." On Monday, I read the boys a history story on Abe Lincoln that coincided with the trait. We also review the definition daily.
Each morning we did a devotional from "My Big Book of 5-minute Devotionals." We also talked about what "Proverbs" are and we also talked about the Jewish Calendar.
MATH
Ryder finished Lesson 1 and 2 in Horizons Math 1.

SCIENCE
The topic this week was "plants and soil." We read in our Usborne Science with Plants book. We also did a science experiment! Daddy filled up a mason jar with soil and I put water in it.

The boys shook the jar!
And then we waited... and waited... for 2 hours before we observed the soil in the jar. Clay, sand, and stones sank to the bottom and "humus" floated on top. Humus is a black layer of rotten plants.
ART
This week Ryder colored "Woman playing with a kitten" by Toyohara Chikanobu. We talked about Kimonos and he decorated the kimono in the picture with stickers.
PRESCHOOL for MERCER
This week Mercer did the letter B. He loved doing the do-a-dot pages again!
He does pretty well with tracing.
And he LOVES when I say its scissor time!
He also got to work with a glue stick this week and glued pictures of buses on a big B.
Ryder's first day of Renewed Moms was Thursday! We love our co-op that we go to once a week. Ryder is taking a science class about habitats of animals, a Legos class, and a Bible class on the book of Timothy. My Bible study this year with the moms is on Spiritual Gifts, Titus, and Timothy. Looking forward to a great year with precious people!
