WEEK 17

BIBLE
The Bible verse this week was Matthew 1:23, "...they will call him Immanuel - which means, 'God with us.' " We read a story in Exodus and Joshua about Moses and Joshua. We read scripture about the important things Jesus told his disciples before He left earth. Ryder had to copy Joshua 1:9 and talk about its meaning.
 
SPELLING
Ryder did Lesson 17 and got a 100 on his spelling test.
 
ENGLISH
Ryder did Unit 3 Lessons 9-12. He also did Lesson 5 in Wordly Wise.
 
 
HISTORY
This week Ryder read a story in the American Pioneers and Patriots book and learned how Pioneers made cloth. We also talked a little more about Daniel Boone and how he tied into the state that we studied this week, Kentucky. He colored the state bird and flower, learned the capital, and wrote the state abbreviation. He also found the state on the map of the USA. We read chapters 13-16 in the read aloud book "Farmer Boy."
 
HEALTH
This week Ryder learned about germs and how to prevent spreading the common cold (cough and sneezing).
 
MATH
Ryder did Lessons 65-68. He did Life of Fred Butterflies Chapter 6.
 
ART
Ryder studied about the artist Chardin and he observed many of his paintings. He pointed out the use of color, texture, and lines in the paintings.
 
MUSIC
We listened to the song "America the Beautiful."
 
SCIENCE
The Science Co-op continued their study of earth.
 
PRESCHOOL
This week Mercer did activities for the letters "e" and "f."
