WEEK 30

BIBLE
The Bible verse this week was John 11:25, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies." We read the Bible stories on Jesus bringing the dead back to life.
 
SPELLING
Ryder did Lesson 30 which was a review lesson and got a 24/25 on his spelling test.
 
ENGLISH
Ryder did Unit 5 Lessons 5-8. He also did Lesson 15 in Wordly Wise to finish up his vocabulary book for the year. This week he also started cursive handwriting!
 
HISTORY
This week Ryder studied the states of Colorado! He colored the state bird and flower, learned the capital, and wrote the state abbreviation. He also found the state on the map of the USA. He learned about the Transcontinental Railroad too. And he colored a map of the USA of the different areas the USA was broken up into according to when the states were established. We also read chapters 1-4 in the new read aloud, "In Grandma's Attic."
 
MATH
Ryder did Lessons 117-120. He got a 38/41 on Test #12.
 
ART
This week Ryder studied how slaves made quilts and used patterns to send secret messages. He learned the different meanings behind quilt patterns and he chose a quilt pattern design to color himself! The pattern he chose was the monkey wrench.
 
MUSIC
We listened to the song "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."
 
PRESCHOOL
This week Mercer worked on letter sounds and handwriting for "Kk, Ll, Mm, and Nn."

 
SCIENCE
Thursday the boys had an Easter party with their co-op! Mrs. Wendy read the Easter story of Jesus and the kids did a craft with donuts making the tomb and the stone that was rolled away. We ate yummy food and the kids hunted Easter eggs too!
