WEEK 34

BIBLE

The Bible verse this week was Revelation 21:6, "...I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End." We talked about what "Alpha" and "Omega" means and he did a handwriting worksheet with the verse. He also put pictures of all the verses on his poster as a review of the year!

 

 

 

SPELLING

Ryder did Lesson 34 and got a / on his spelling test.

 

ENGLISH

Ryder did Unit 5 Lessons 11-24. Also this week Ryder finished All About Reading 4 which he has been working on all year!

 

HISTORY

This week Ryder studied the states of Alaska and Hawaii! He colored the state bird and flower, learned the capital, and wrote the state abbreviation. He also found the state on the map of the USA. He finished his state study and his state sticker book! He wrote a letter to our current President of the USA ~ Obama. We finished our timeline by adding the inventions and several things we hadn't added so far this year! And we went through our notebook and reviewed all that we had learned this year!

 

 

 

 

MATH

Ryder did Lessons 133-136.

 

ART

This week we read a poem that talked about all the elements of art that we studied this year.

 

PRESCHOOL

This week Mercer worked on letter sounds and handwriting for "Yy and Zz."

 

SCIENCE

We are nearing the end of our Science co-op, finishing up the weather study! The boys both have a really neat notebook of things they completed throughout the year!

 

Throughout the summer Ryder will continue to work on Math and English to get his school year complete on those subjects and continue with cursive handwriting! We will also read some fun read aloud books! Mercer will work on handwriting as well this summer to get him all ready for Kindergarten in the fall! I also have a 10 commandments study we will do for a week or so as well this summer!

WEEK 33

BIBLE

The Bible verse this week was John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." We talked about the importance of accepting God's Word, that we need the Word, and that God wants everyone to know Him.

 

SPELLING

Ryder did Lesson 33 and got a 12/12 on his spelling test.

 

ENGLISH

Ryder did Unit 5 Lessons 17-20.

 

HISTORY

This week Ryder studied the states of Utah, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arizona! He colored the state bird and flower, learned the capital, and wrote the state abbreviation. He also found the state on the map of the USA. We also made Navajo Fry Bread! It was yummy! Tasted like a donut with the honey on it. We finished the read aloud, "In Grandma's Attic." 

MATH

Ryder did Lessons 129-132. He got a 48/49 on test #13.

 ART

This week Ryder colored a pattern on this spider web.

 

MUSIC

We listened to the song, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."

 

PRESCHOOL

This week Mercer worked on letter sounds and handwriting for "Vv, Ww, and Xx."

 

SCIENCE

In co-op the boys continued their unit study about weather. At home we finished a unit study about inventions! This week we learned about Thomas Edison's inventions, and the inventions of the automobile and airplane!

WEEK 32

BIBLE

The Bible verse this week was John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Ryder learned about Jesus being the Word and he also put Ephesians 4:29 words in order to make the verse correct!

 

 

SPELLING

Ryder did Lesson 32 and got a 10/12 on his spelling test.

 

ENGLISH

Ryder did Unit 5 Lessons 13-16. He wrote his first paragraph this week about the outdoors all by himself!

 

HISTORY

This week Ryder studied the states of Montana, Washington, Idaho, and Wyoming! He colored the state bird and flower, learned the capital, and wrote the state abbreviation. He also found the state on the map of the USA. We also read chapters 10-14 in the read aloud, "In Grandma's Attic." 

 

MATH

Ryder did Lessons 125-128.

 

ART

This week Ryder studied different types of space in art.

 

MUSIC

We listened to the song, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."

 

PRESCHOOL

This week Mercer worked on letter sounds and handwriting for "Ss, Tt, and Uu."

 

SCIENCE

In co-op the boys continued their unit study about weather. At home we started a unit study about inventions! This week we learned about the inventions of McCormick's Reaper, the Sewing Machine, and the Telephone.

WEEK 31

BIBLE

The Bible verse this week was John 11:25, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies." Ryder learned about the "Good News" this week as well as learning about how we are seeds and about what Heaven will be like!

 

SPELLING

Ryder did Lesson 31 and got a 12/12 on his spelling test.

 

ENGLISH

Ryder did Unit 5 Lessons 9-12.

 

HISTORY

This week Ryder studied the states of North and South Dakota! He colored the state bird and flower, learned the capital, and wrote the state abbreviation. He also found the state on the map of the USA. He learned about Mount Rushmore and  We also read chapters 5-9 in the read aloud, "In Grandma's Attic." 

 

 MATH

Ryder did Lessons 121-124.

 

ART

This week Ryder studied Civil War artwork and we discussed the different textures, shapes, and colors in the paintings. Ryder did a great job describing these different areas to me! Both boys also colored a snake using a pattern and following directions!

 

MUSIC

We listened to the song "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."

This week Mercer worked on letter sounds and handwriting for "Oo, Pp, Qq, and Rr."

This week in co-op the boys learned about tornados!
