WEEK 33

BIBLE
We continued our Matthew study this week and finished chapter 13. The boys also colored a French John 3:16 worksheet. We read about Albania in "Window on the World."

LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder did Spelling Lesson 33 and got a 16/16 on his spelling test.
Ryder did lesson 52 in English this week and finished his program!
Mercer did Lesson 14-15 in All About Reading Level 2.
Ryder had reading time every day. He started the book "Black Beauty." Mercer has started reading the Usborne "Hey Jack!" book series.
For read aloud time we read chapters 1-4 in "New Toes for Tia."

MATH
Mercer did lessons 128-131 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 90-92 in Teaching Textbooks.
 
GEOGRAPHY
This week we continued our study of France. We studied the French words for colors and numbers and read about France in "Children's Atlas of God's World." The geography-themed vocabulary words that Ryder learned about this week were cave and sea cave.

SCIENCE
We studied about dinosaurs in Apologia Land Animals Lesson 12. At home we completed several activities in the notebooking journal. We also read several books on dinosaurs. And we learned about adaptation in the Complete Book of Animals and Properties of Ecosystems. The boys did several worksheets on adaptation too.
 
MUSIC
We listened to the sons "Wee Falorie Man," "Coulter's Candy," and "Lavender's Blue" on our Wee Sing CD.
 
CO-OP
This week for Art the kids learned about Impressionism art and did a drawing on that type of art. They named their artwork and presented it to the class.




 
For geography we had snacks! French food! Croissants and Brie cheese!



For Science, the kids presented facts they had learned about dinosaurs and then they dug into dinosaur eggs and found the dinosaur! They loved this! Each had a different dinosaur and we figured out what type of dinosaur each child found in their egg!

WEEK 32

BIBLE
We continued our Matthew study this week and read some more in chapter 13.
 
LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder did Spelling Lesson 32 and got a 16/16 on his spelling test.
Mercer did Lesson 12-13 in All About Reading Level 2.
Ryder had reading time every day. He finished book "James and the Giant Peach." Mercer has started reading the Usborne "Hey Jack!" book series.
For read aloud time we read several children's books.

MATH
Mercer did lessons 124-127 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 86-89 in Teaching Textbooks.
 
GEOGRAPHY
This week we studied France. We located the country on the map, read facts about the country, Ryder did a worksheet on stats of France, the boys colored the flag, we read about Rachel in "Children Like Me," we read a few Usborne books on famous building and landmarks in Paris, they did a crossword puzzle and colored a map of France.




SCIENCE
We studied about the 5 senses at home this week.

CO-OP
This week for Science the kids learned about tree rings and the Great Lakes.




For geography, they learned about all the inventions and foods that were originated in France. They gave a speech on a famous landmark or building in France. Mercer talked about the Luxenbourg Gardens. Ryder was planning to talk about Georges Pompidou Museum of Modern Art, but he was running fever so couldn't go to class. Then they did a STEM activity making the Eiffel Tower out of straws!


Ryder was feeling much better today, so he did his Eiffel Tower project at home.

WEEK 31

BIBLE
We continued our Matthew study this week and read some more in chapter 13.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder did Spelling Lesson 31 and got a 16/16 on his spelling test.
Ryder did lesson 51 in English this week.
Mercer did Lesson 10-11 in All About Reading Level 2.
Ryder had reading time every day. He read chapters 7-18 in the book "James and the Giant Peach."
For read aloud time we read several children's books.

MATH
Mercer did lessons 120-123 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 83-85 in Teaching Textbooks.
 
GEOGRAPHY
This week we studied the Netherlands. We located the country on the map, Ryder did a worksheet about facts on the country, we read different country facts and practiced a speech for our Thursday group on a fact that the boys picked to talk about, the boys colored a flag worksheet, we read about rivers in our geography encyclopedia, we read about windmills, and learned different words in Dutch. Ryder also did a language worksheet on Dutch numbers.
 



 
SCIENCE
We studied about rivers, lakes, and streams this week. The boys labeled several major rivers of the world on a worksheet. Ryder also studied about the parts of a plant in his Wednesday Foundations class.


 
CO-OP
This week was probably our most fun class we have had yet! The kids learned about all the things that the Dutch "invented"/things that originated in the Netherlands. Donuts and Gouda cheese were two of those things so they had those for a snack! They also made windmills and gave a speech on a fact about the Netherlands for geography.


For Science, we continued with our reptile/amphibian study. We played a game where the kids had to see if they could get the plastic frogs to jump and land on the lily pads.

We did a science experiment on sound vibrations and how newts and salamanders do not have external ears so they use vibrations. 

And they partnered up and acted like frogs! They had to use their tongue to catch raisins like frogs use their tongues to catch flies to eat!

WEEK 30

BIBLE
We continued our Matthew study this week and read some in chapter 13.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder did Spelling Lesson 30 and got a 25/25 on his spelling test.
Ryder did lesson 50 in English this week. 
They both finished their handwriting workbooks this week.
Mercer did Lesson 8-9 in All About Reading Level 2.
Ryder had reading time every day. He finished the book "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and read chapters 1-6 in the book "James and the Giant Peach."
For read aloud time we read several children's books.

MATH
Mercer did lessons 116-119 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 79-82 in Teaching Textbooks.
 
GEOGRAPHY
This week we finished our study on Germany. The boys colored a picture of the country of Germany, we read about Europe in our Usborne Geography Encyclopedia, we read about Germany in the "Children's Atlas of God's World," and we did a language activity studying everyday expressions, days of the week, numbers and colors in German, and we learned German words that are used in English! The geography-themed vocabulary words that Ryder learned about this week were ford and meander.


SCIENCE
We read about lakes and ponds in Properties of Ecosystems. We also read about freshwater plants and animals and getting oxygen underwater in the Living World Encyclopedia.

MUSIC
We listened to the our Geography Songs CD on countries in Europe.
