WEEK 31

BIBLE
We continued our Matthew study this week and read some more in chapter 13.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder did Spelling Lesson 31 and got a 16/16 on his spelling test.
Ryder did lesson 51 in English this week.
Mercer did Lesson 10-11 in All About Reading Level 2.
Ryder had reading time every day. He read chapters 7-18 in the book "James and the Giant Peach."
For read aloud time we read several children's books.

MATH
Mercer did lessons 120-123 in Horizons Math. Ryder did lessons 83-85 in Teaching Textbooks.

GEOGRAPHY
This week we studied the Netherlands. We located the country on the map, Ryder did a worksheet about facts on the country, we read different country facts and practiced a speech for our Thursday group on a fact that the boys picked to talk about, the boys colored a flag worksheet, we read about rivers in our geography encyclopedia, we read about windmills, and learned different words in Dutch. Ryder also did a language worksheet on Dutch numbers.

SCIENCE
We studied about rivers, lakes, and streams this week. The boys labeled several major rivers of the world on a worksheet. Ryder also studied about the parts of a plant in his Wednesday Foundations class.

CO-OP
This week was probably our most fun class we have had yet! The kids learned about all the things that the Dutch "invented"/things that originated in the Netherlands. Donuts and Gouda cheese were two of those things so they had those for a snack! They also made windmills and gave a speech on a fact about the Netherlands for geography.

For Science, we continued with our reptile/amphibian study. We played a game where the kids had to see if they could get the plastic frogs to jump and land on the lily pads.

We did a science experiment on sound vibrations and how newts and salamanders do not have external ears so they use vibrations.

And they partnered up and acted like frogs! They had to use their tongue to catch raisins like frogs use their tongues to catch flies to eat!
