WEEK 14

Well, no pictures this week! This school year has been so hectic that I haven't taken as many pictures throughout the week as I would like. This week 2 of the kids had stomach bug and Mercer had to miss his Thanksgiving party at his co-op class. Life happens! We did manage to get all of our school work in at home though!

LANGUAGE ARTS
Mercer did Lesson 8 and 9 in All About Reading Level 3, the first half of WriteShop Level A Lesson 7, Week 12 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, 6 pages in Explode the Code Book 3, and Lesson 7 in handwriting.

Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 13 on homophones and exclamation points, Week 12 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test.

 MATH
Mercer did Day 90-97 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 48-50 and took quiz #7 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.

 SCIENCE
This week Mercer started chapter 5 on tame animals and we learned about animals that make good pets and how to care for them and how they help care for us.
Ryder learned about current electricity (conductors and insulators), series and parallel circuits, magnetism, magnets, and uses of magnets.

SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 14 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about  Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, The Grand Teton National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, and the Grand Canyon.
Ryder learned about the United States Capitol, the organization of US Congress, how the US Congress works, and how a bill becomes a law. He read 11 chapters in "Brighty of the Grand Canyon." He also learned about President Hayes and Garfield.

BIBLE
This week we started the book "The Ology" and read chapter 1 on God always was and always will be.

CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.

MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the brass section of the orchestra! They also listened to music played by brass instruments.

TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 4 Week 11 on Kindness. We traced a cat and wrote the Bible verse inside it, listened to "Hey Diddle Diddle" and "Oh, Be Careful Little Eyes," read a story in their virtue book about kindness, pretended to be a cat, ate grapes, read Richard Scarry's Best Little Word Book Ever!, read about David being kind to Mephibosheth in the preschooler's Bible, read about a kitchen in A Big Treasury of Little Animals, colored a picture of a cat, and read "The Three Little Kittens" poem.
