Unit 5: NEST

We learned “God takes good care of me."

Ryder has learned 31 sight words! He has finished up Lesson 74 in Abeka Math. He finished Lesson 5 in All About Reading Level 1 this week. He read two short stories! I am so proud of him! Both boys love calendar time ~ especially the Pledge of Allegiance and learning sign language.

 

 

 These were our books this week.

 PHONICS

Ryder had several phonics and handwriting papers this week. This actually was the only part of our day that I really took pictures. He also cut out 4 pictures and had to put them in the correct sequence to make a book about nests.

 MATH

Ryder loves Math and so far it has come very easy for him which is why he is flying through his Kindergarten level Math.

 SCIENCE/BIBLE

Bible and Science is integrated together which I LOVE about My Father's World. This week the theme was "nests" but we also talked about all kinds of different animal homes. He played a matching game pairing an animal to its home (ex. cow/barn, bee/hive).

We talked about our eternal home in Heaven. Instead of making real nests outside because we don't have a lot of mud and twigs in our neighborhood, we made edible nests!

Our Bible lesson this week was on Elijah and King Ahab. We also talked about how we are not supposed to worry (Matthew 6:25-33) and we studied George Muller.

MUSIC

This is the boys favorite part of the week! They love listening to classical music and doing the particular activity! This week they listened to Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake. They pretended to be swans moving gracefully on a lake.
