Unit 6: TURTLE

We learned “I don't quit; I persevere."
The letter is Tt

We took a break from learning new sight words this week and just reviewed the ones we have learned up until this point. Mercer is also really starting to catch on to the words of the Pledge of Allegiance.

These were our books this week. We loved the read-alouds about perseverance.

PHONICS
Ryder had several phonics and handwriting sheets this week.

This week Ryder started the blending ladder. It was a review of what he has already learned going through All About Reading Level 1, but it was pretty much a spelling type worksheet which was something fun to do!

Ryder did Lesson 6 this week of All About Reading. This was a tough week, so we only did one lesson, but today he was so proud that he was able to successfully read all the words, phrases, and sentences on his practice sheet!

MATH
Ryder finished up Lesson 84 this week of Abeka Math K. He is flying through his Math workbooks.
 SCIENCE
This week we studied all about turtles. This is the tree map that Ryder completed all about turtles. I helped him spell the words, but he thought of all the descriptions to put on the blanks!
The boys loved pretending to be turtles!

Here they are hiding in their shell because they are afraid!
They also enjoyed "acting" like different animals. Here they are flying like a bird!
Mercer was being a great kangaroo!
 BIBLE
This week our Bible lesson was on perseverance. The theme verse was Galatians 6:9 ~ not becoming tired of doing good. We talked about how sometimes we are given important things to do that might take a long time to finish, but we must obey and not give up!

MUSIC
The song was Strauss: Tritsch-Tratsch Polka. The boys learned that a polka dance is a popular couple's dance in many countries, so they had to dance around the room together!

Mercer played with cars pretty much all week during school time.
This is our new addition this week! Our caterpillar! Each one has a picture of the theme and the saying that is to be remembered each week. We will keep adding to it until we finished all 26 themes this year! He will be quite long :)
