WEEK 22

BIBLE/HISTORY
The memory verse for this week was "Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right." Proverbs 20:11 Ryder practiced handwriting by writing out the Bible verse and he went over the verse daily. All week we reviewed the definition of gratefulness. We also learned about the books of the Bible Mark through Acts. We studied the ten commandments, the tabernacle, the twelve spies, Jericho and Rahab. He colored the ten commandments and added it to our timeline.

 READING/LANGUAGE ARTS
Ryder did Lesson 42 and 43 in All About Reading Level 3. He also had several handwriting and phonics worksheets. He did First Language Lessons Level 1 Lessons 74 through 76. He did All About Spelling Level 1 Lesson 15. He continued with reading a story from his Bible Reader about the ten commandments and the twelve spies. And he illustrated the stories in his Bible notebook.

 MATH
Ryder finished Lessons 81 through 84 in Horizons Math 1.
 SCIENCE
This week we studied water's "skin" and did a few experiments.
Experiment #1 ~ Bulging Glass ~ We observed the water rise above the glass but not overflow when we added coins to the glass.
Experiment #2 ~ Flattening Drops ~ I put some drops on a plate with a spoon and used a straw dipped in dishwashing liquid to make the skin stretch so the drops could spread out.

Experiment #3 FAIL ~ Floating a Needle ~ We attempted to float a needle on water but just couldn't get it to work!

 ART
Ryder continued with "Enjoying Art Together" this week. We studied the artwork "Self-Portrait with Monkey" by Frida Kahlo. Ryder did a great job examining the picture and answering questions about the painting.
 PRESCHOOL for MERCER
This week Mercer did the letter V this week.
