They both did handwriting.
Ryder did lesson 9-11 this week in English.

Ryder had reading time every day. He finished "Flat Stanley's Worldwide Adventures: The Amazing Mexican Secret" and started "Flat Stanley's Worldwide Adventures: The Japanese Ninja Surprise."
We read one chapter in our read aloud "Bash and the Pirate Pigs" ~ because I am still hoarse and coughing. Hopefully it will clear up soon so we can finish this book!
GEOGRAPHY
This week we continued our country study of Mexico! We read about Mexico in the Children's Atlas of God's World, ate enchiladas and chips and dip, learned the Spanish words for the different colors and Ryder did a worksheet on this (see below), and we read different facts about Mexico! The geography-themed vocabulary words that Ryder learned about this week were canyon and gulch.

This week in co-op the kids painted their sun face pottery they made in class last week. These kids LOVE art projects and painting especially!
They also made tissue paper flowers. These are a popular decoration in Mexico.
For the Science portion, Ms. Emily talked about deserts and cacti.
The kids then painted a sunset picture and added cacti at the bottom with black construction paper.
