WEEK 18

LANGUAGE ARTS
Mercer did Lesson 15 and 16 in All About Reading Level 3, week 15 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, finished his Explode the Code Book 3, and Lesson 11 in handwriting. I started Mercer on the Sonlight Language Arts 2 program this week. We have never tried Sonlight, but so far so good! He did Week 1 which consisted of spelling of compound words (he got all 9 words right!), copy work, creative writing, reading in his reader and answering comprehension questions, and 8 pages in Explode the Code Book 4.

Ryder did Fit It Grammar Week 16 on capitals and contractions, took 2 timed reading tests, did week 15 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and had a test.

MATH
Mercer did Day 120-129 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 60-62 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.

Ryder took his chapter 6 test this week.

Both boys did Week 18 in their geography workbooks.

CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.

MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the trombone. They listened to music played by the trombone.

TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 5 Week 13-15 the last two weeks. This unit is on sharing. We did a unit poster, listened to the songs "Do You Know What Has a Trunk" and "Love, Love," read about sharing in the First Virtues book, read "The Lion and the Mouse," read about Elisha, the lunch for 5,000, and an Ethiopian hearing about Jesus in the preschooler's Bible, colored a picture of shapes, colored a greeting card, read "Goodnight Gorilla," played with green playdoh and a lion cookie cutter, read the poem "Five Roaring Lions," pretended to be lions, traced a lion and wrote the Bible verse on paper, made animal puzzles, and reviewed the animals we have learned about so far.
