WEEK 18

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 15 and 16 in All About Reading Level 3, week 15 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, finished his Explode the Code Book 3, and Lesson 11 in handwriting. I started Mercer on the Sonlight Language Arts 2 program this week. We have never tried Sonlight, but so far so good! He did Week 1 which consisted of spelling of compound words (he got all 9 words right!), copy work, creative writing, reading in his reader and answering comprehension questions, and 8 pages in Explode the Code Book 4. 
 
Ryder did Fit It Grammar Week 16 on capitals and contractions, took 2 timed reading tests, did week 15 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and had a test.
 
MATH
Mercer did Day 120-129 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 60-62 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
   
 SCIENCE
Mercer started chapter 6 on Wild Animals. He learned about wild animals and animal tracks.
Ryder took his chapter 6 test this week.
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 18 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about England, France, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Norway, and Germany this week.
Ryder learned about the Presidents Taft, Harding and Wilson this week. Both boys studied about Christmas Day and New Year's Day holidays.
 
 
 
CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the trombone. They listened to music played by the trombone.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 5 Week 13-15 the last two weeks. This unit is on sharing. We did a unit poster, listened to the songs "Do You Know What Has a Trunk" and "Love, Love," read about sharing in the First Virtues book, read "The Lion and the Mouse," read about Elisha, the lunch for 5,000, and an Ethiopian hearing about Jesus in the preschooler's Bible, colored a picture of shapes, colored a greeting card, read "Goodnight Gorilla," played with green playdoh and a lion cookie cutter, read the poem "Five Roaring Lions," pretended to be lions, traced a lion and wrote the Bible verse on paper, made animal puzzles, and reviewed the animals we have learned about so far.

WEEK 17

 
LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 13 and 14 in All About Reading Level 3, week 14 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, 6 pages in Explode the Code Book 3, and Lesson 10 in handwriting.
 
Ryder did Fit It Grammar Week 15 on quality adjective dress-up, took 2 timed reading tests, did week 14 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and had a test.
 
MATH
Mercer did Day 112-119 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 57-59 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts. He completed his subtraction math facts and got his certificate, so he was able to move onto multiplication math facts this week!
  
 SCIENCE
Mercer took his chapter 5 test this week.
Ryder learned about shadows, reflection, refraction, colors of light, the eye, parts of the eye, vision and lenses.
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 17 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Mexico, Peru, and the Bahamas this week.
Ryder learned about America and the world, Presidential visits around the world, the work of an ambassador, and a drive down embassy row. Both boys studied about the Pearl Harbor holiday.
 
BIBLE
We read Chapter 3 of The Ology about how God created everything out of nothing at all.
 
CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the French horn. They listened to music played by the French horn.
 
TOT SCHOOL
I am combining 3 weeks into 2 for this Unit so it doesn't carry over into next semester, so I will go over everything we did for this unit next week!

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 11 and 12 in All About Reading Level 3, finished WriteShop Level A, week 13 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, 6 pages in Explode the Code Book 3, and Lesson 9 in handwriting.
 
Ryder did Fit It Grammar Week 14 on adjectives, took 2 timed reading tests, did week 13 of his Daily Reading Practice workbook, and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on Spelling through Spelling City and Natural Speller and had a test.
 
 
 
MATH
Mercer did Day 104-111 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 54-56 and took quiz #8 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.

 
 SCIENCE
Mercer learned about farm animals, zoo animals, and taking care of animals.
Ryder started chapter 6 about Light. He learned about light characteristics, properties of light, light and matter, luminous, nonluminous, transparent, translucent, and opaque.
 

SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 16 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Canada this week.
Ryder learned about the congressional staff, working on Capitol Hill, the office of the Vice President, and the Library of Congress. Ryder also learned about the Presidents McKinley and Roosevelt. He finished the book "Brighty" this week too.

 
BIBLE
We read Chapter 2 of The Ology about God is Three in One.
 
CRITICAL THINKING
The boys each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned about the trumpet. They listened to music played by the trumpet.
 
TOT SCHOOL
This week was a lighter week because I had to babysit 3 kids one day and Eva wasn't feeling great. We reviewed all the colors and animals we have learned so far, matched mittens to the kitten's coat, read about A Blind Man named Bartimaeus in the Preschooler's Bible, and colored greeting cards.


 
And just for laughs... it was a bad case of the Monday's and trying to get into the groove again after a holiday for Mercer Man!

LANGUAGE ARTS
 Mercer did Lesson 10 in All About Reading Level 3, the second half of WriteShop Level A Lesson 7 and all of WriteShop Level A Lesson 8, 6 pages in Explode the Code Book 3, and Lesson 8 in handwriting.
 
Ryder took 2 timed reading tests and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook.
 

 
MATH
Mercer did Day 98-103 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 51-53 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
 
 SCIENCE
Ryder learned about electromagnets and generators and took his Chapter 5 test. 

 

SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 15 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Death Valley, Yosemite National Park, San Francisco, and the Pacific Coast.
Ryder learned about the Presidents Arthur, Cleveland, and Harrison.
Both boys did a study on the Thanksgiving holiday.

 
CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 3 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.

WEEK 14

Well, no pictures this week! This school year has been so hectic that I haven't taken as many pictures throughout the week as I would like. This week 2 of the kids had stomach bug and Mercer had to miss his Thanksgiving party at his co-op class. Life happens! We did manage to get all of our school work in at home though!
 
LANGUAGE ARTS
Mercer did Lesson 8 and 9 in All About Reading Level 3, the first half of WriteShop Level A Lesson 7, Week 12 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, 6 pages in Explode the Code Book 3, and Lesson 7 in handwriting.
 
Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 13 on homophones and exclamation points, Week 12 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test. 
 
 MATH
Mercer did Day 90-97 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 48-50 and took quiz #7 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
 
 SCIENCE
This week Mercer started chapter 5 on tame animals and we learned about animals that make good pets and how to care for them and how they help care for us.
Ryder learned about current electricity (conductors and insulators), series and parallel circuits, magnetism, magnets, and uses of magnets.
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 14 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about  Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, The Grand Teton National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, and the Grand Canyon.
Ryder learned about the United States Capitol, the organization of US Congress, how the US Congress works, and how a bill becomes a law. He read 11 chapters in "Brighty of the Grand Canyon." He also learned about President Hayes and Garfield.
 
BIBLE
This week we started the book "The Ology" and read chapter 1 on God always was and always will be.
 
CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the brass section of the orchestra! They also listened to music played by brass instruments.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 4 Week 11 on Kindness. We traced a cat and wrote the Bible verse inside it, listened to "Hey Diddle Diddle" and "Oh, Be Careful Little Eyes," read a story in their virtue book about kindness, pretended to be a cat, ate grapes, read Richard Scarry's Best Little Word Book Ever!, read about David being kind to Mephibosheth in the preschooler's Bible, read about a kitchen in A Big Treasury of Little Animals, colored a picture of a cat, and read "The Three Little Kittens" poem.

Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 12 on indenting paragraphs, Week 11 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test. 
 
 MATH
Mercer did Day 82-89 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 44-47 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
 
 SCIENCE
This week Mercer learned about safety.
Ryder started chapter 5 on electricity and magnetism. He learned about electric charges and static electricity.
 

SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 13 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Washington DC, Williamsburg Virginia, the Mississippi River and the Great Plains.
Ryder learned about the first lady, the white house, the white house residence staff, and going home to Monticello. He read 12 chapters in "Brighty of the Grand Canyon."
Both boys did a holiday study on Veteren's Day.
 

BIBLE
This week the character trait was thoughtfulness.
 


CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the bassoon! They also listened to music played with the bassoon.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 4 Week 10 on Kindness. The girls made their unit poster, listened to "Hey Diddle Diddle" and "Oh, Be Careful Little Eyes," read a story in their virtue book about kindness, ate grapes, read Richard Scarry's Best Little Word Book Ever!, read about Ruth and Naomi in the preschooler's Bible, colored shapes and kittens purple, read about a kitchen in A Big Treasury of Little Animals, played with a cat cookie cutter and purple playdoh, and read "The Three Little Kittens" poem.

Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 11 on apostrophes with contractions, Week 10 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test. 

 MATH
Mercer did Day 75-81 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 41-43 and had quiz #6 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
 
 SCIENCE
This week Mercer did an experiment on clean vs. dirty hands and learned about teeth.
Ryder learned about these simple machines: inclined plane, screw, and wedge. We did an activity discussing tools and simple machines and how they could have been used to build the ark. He also took the chapter 4 test.
 
 

SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 12 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about different ways Americans have sent messages to each other in the past and today - smoke signals, town crier, Pony Express, stage coach, telephone, mail truck, radio, newspaper, internet, and TV! He also learned about Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Plantation, Niagara Falls, the Statue of Liberty, Fort McHenry and the Star Spangled Banner.
Ryder learned about the responsibilities of the president, the leadership role of the president, a day in the life of a president, and the president's cabinet. He finished the book "A Letter to Mrs. Roosevelt." He also learned about presidents Johnson and Grant.


BIBLE
This week the character trait was orderliness.


CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the saxophone! They also listened to music played with the saxophone.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 3 Week 9 on Patience. The girls colored a picture of a duck. We listened to the songs "How Many Ducks" and "This Little Light of Mine." We read about patience in the first virtues book. We reviewed the three colors we have learned about and we counted up to 5 ducks. We read "The Fuzzy Duckling." We also read about Jesus going back to heaven in the preschooler's Bible. They colored a greeting card. We read a story about ducks in "A Big Treasury of Little Animals." We read the "Five Baby Ducks" poem.

Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 10 on helping verbs, Week 9 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test.
 
 
 MATH
Mercer did Day 68-74 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 37-40 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
 
 SCIENCE
This week Mercer viewed the seasons and took his chapter 3 test. He also started chapter 4 which is about health and safety and he learned about his body and healthy habits.
Ryder learned about these simple machines: lever, wheel and axle, and pulley.

 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 11 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about different ways to travel - horse and wagon, trains, planes, cars/trucks, and boats.
Ryder learned about Washington, DC (our nation's capital) - introducing the people of Washington, DC, becoming the capital city, from mud streets to grand avenues, and a timeline of the DC national park sites. He read chapters 1-12 in "A Letter to Mrs. Roosevelt." He also learned about presidents Buchanan and Lincoln.



BIBLE
This week the character trait was joyfulness.




CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the clarinet! They also listened to music played with the clarinet.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 3 Week 8 on Patience. We traced a shape of a duck and wrote the bible verse on the paper, pretended to be ducks, listened to "How Many Ducks" and "This Little Light of Mine" on our music CD, read about the ducking being patient in the first virtues book, read "The Fuzzy Duckling," read about Joshua and the battle of Jericho in the preschooler's Bible, did duck puzzles, read about a duck in A Big Treasury of Little Animals, read and acted out the Five Baby Ducks poem, and played with yellow playdoh and duck-shaped cookie cutters!

Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 9 where he learned about apostrophes to show ownership (possessives), Week 8 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test.
 
  MATH
Mercer did Day 61-67 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 34-36 and quiz #5 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
 
 SCIENCE
This week Mercer learned about winter.
Ryder started unit 2 which is all about forces and energy. He learned about forces, gravity, friction, and uses those forces through motion or work.
 

  
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 10 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about America growing, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa.
Ryder studied about getting ready for election day, going to the polls on election day, finding out election results, the electoral college, and the transition team. He also learned about presidents Fillmore and Pierce.
 
 
BIBLE
This week the character trait was generosity.

 
CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the oboe! They also listened to music played with the oboe.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 3 Week 7 on Patience. We did our unit poster, listened to the songs "How Many Ducks" and "This Little Light of Mine," read about patience in our First Virtues book, went on a hunt to spot things that were yellow, ate bananas and sandwiches in the shape of a duck, read "The Fuzzy Duckling, read about Isaac in the Preschooler's Bible, read "The Little Duck" in A Big Treasury of Little Animals, colored ducks and shapes yellow, and acted out our weekly poem "Five Baby Ducks."

This week we had a shortened week due to fall break! The boys didn't have their co-op classes and we went on a long weekend trip to Branson!

LANGUAGE ARTS
Mercer did Lessons 50-51 in All About Reading Level 2 and he finished the Level 2 book, 6 pages in Explode the Code Book 3, and Lesson 2 in handwriting.
 
Ryder took 2 timed reading tests and did 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook.
 
 
  MATH
Mercer did Day 55-60 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 31-33 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
  
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 9 in their geography workbooks and we learned about Columbus Day. The boys drew and colored an Italian flag.
Ryder also learned about Presidents Harrison, Tyler, Polk, and Taylor.

Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 8 where he learned about strong verbs, Week 7 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test.
 
  MATH
Mercer did Day 45-54 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 28-30 and quiz #4 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.

 SCIENCE
This week Mercer learned about summer and autumn.
Ryder learned about ways to classify plants (tubes or no tubes, seeds or spores, and flowers or cones. He also took his chapter 3 test.
  
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 8 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Abraham Lincoln.
Ryder studied about putting together a campaign, advertising your candidate, traveling the campaign trail, and the presidential debates.
 
BIBLE
This week the character trait was flexibility.
 
CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the flute and piccolo! They also listened to music played with the flute and piccolo.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 2 Week 6 on Obedience. We made a bear headband, listened to the songs "Follow My Directions" and "Jesus Loves Me," read about obeying in the virtues book, did a musical color walk, read "The Three Bears," read about Satan tempting Jesus in the preschooler's Bible, colored a 3 little bears greeting card, read a bear story in the Margaret Wise Brown Treasury, and acted out the black bear poem!

Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 7 where he learned about action verbs, Week 6 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test.
 
  MATH
Mercer did Day 39-44 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 24-27 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.

 SCIENCE
This week Mercer learned about an overview of the seasons and more specifically spring.
Ryder learned about the plant life cycle including germination, growth, and reproduction without seeds.
  
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 7 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about Paul Revere and Benjamin Franklin
Ryder studied about the American political parties, jumping into the race, winning delegates through caucuses and primaries, and democratic and republican conventions.
 
BIBLE
This week the character trait was endurance.

Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the woodwind family! They also listened to music played with instruments in the woodwind family.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 2 Week 5 on Obedience. We wrote the Bible verse on a bear, pretended to be black bears, listened to the songs "Follow My Directions" and "Jesus Loves Me," read about obeying in the virtues book, made the color black out of food coloring, watched raisins "swim," read "The Three Bears," talked about obedience, read about Noah and the flood in the preschooler's Bible, colored a picture of the three bears, read a story about bears in the Margaret Wise Brown Treasury book, played with black playdoh and used a bear cookie cutter, and acted out the bear poem!
 
CO-OP
Mercer's foundation teacher posted these cute pictures of class yesterday! They built a castle out of boxes! And notice Mercer snuck a hat in his backpack to wear to class!



FIELD TRIP
I took the boys to the Dinstuhl's Chocolate Factory this morning for a tour. We watch a powerpoint presentation of the history of chocolate. Then we got to tour where they make the chocolate and candies, where they make molds, and where they package the candy! The boys loved getting to sample some chocolate and they even got a goodie bag to take home!

LANGUAGE ARTS
Mercer did Lessons 44-45 in All About Reading Level 2, the second half of WriteShop Level A Lesson 3, Week 5 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, 6 pages in Explode the Code Book 3, and Lessons 22-25 in handwriting.
 
Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 6 where he continued to learn about which-who clauses, Week 5 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test.
 
 
  MATH
Mercer did Day 29-38 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 21-23 and Quiz #3 in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts. He finished his addition facts and he has moved onto subtraction!

 
 SCIENCE
This week Mercer learned about the weatherman and he took his Unit 2 test. he also started Unit 3 which is about the seasons.
This week Ryder took his Unit 2 test and he started on Unit 3 which is about plants. He learned about flowers, flower parts, pollination, and seeds.
  
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 6 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about George Washington and the cherry tree. 
Ryder studied about what voting is, women and minorities gaining the right to vote, and the rules about voting. He also learned about presidents Jackson and Van Buren. He finished the book "Lincoln: A Photobiography."
 
 
BIBLE
This week the character trait was decisiveness.

 
 
CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the harp! They also listened to music played with the harp.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 2 Week 4 on Obedience. This week we focused on the color black and bears. We made a new unit poster, played "Find the Bears," listened to the songs "Follow My Directions" and "Jesus Loves Me," read about obeying in "First Virtues," found items in the homeschool room that were the color black, ate raisins, read "The Three Bears," talked about obedience, read about the garden of Eden in the Preschooler's Bible, colored circles black, read a story about bears in "The Margaret Wise Brown Treasury," and pretended to be black bears while reading the black bear poem!

WEEK 5

LANGUAGE ARTS
Mercer did Lessons 42-43 in All About Reading Level 2, the first half of WriteShop Level A Lesson 3, Week 4 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, 6 pages in Explode the Code Book 3, and Lessons 18-21 in handwriting.
 
Ryder did Fix It Grammar Week 5 where he learned about which-who clauses, Week 4 of his Daily Reading Practice Workbook, took 2 timed reading tests, and 3 pages in his Word Roots workbook. He also worked on spelling through Spelling City using Natural Speller words and had a test.
 
 
 MATH
Mercer did Day 20-28 in his Easy Peasy Math workbook.
Ryder did Lessons 17-20  in Teaching Textbooks 5. He also used XtraMath online to work on his Math Facts.
 
SCIENCE
This week Mercer learned about wind, clouds, and water from the sky. 
This week Ryder learned about insect life cycles, metamorphosis, social insects, ants, and spiders - their body characteristics and how they catch food.
 
 
 
SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY
Both boys did Week 5 in their geography workbooks.
Mercer studied about pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving day. 
Ryder studied about choosing people to lead and president's traditions, homes, birthdays, and families. He also learned about presidents Monroe and Adams. He read 4 chapters in "Lincoln: A Photobiography."

 
BIBLE
This week the character trait was courage.

 
CRITICAL THINKING
Mercer and Ryder each did 4 pages in their critical thinking workbooks.
 
MUSIC
This week the kids learned all about the double bass! They also listened to music played with the double bass.
 
TOT SCHOOL
We did Unit 1 Week 3 on Love. We pretended to be rabbits, listened to "Eensy Weensy Spider" and God Made Me," read in our virtues book, did a musical color walk with red shapes, played with discovery blocks, read the book "Terrific Trains," made a paper heart that says "God Loves Eva and Ella," read about Jesus dying on the cross and rising from the dead in the Preschoolers Bible, made a greeting card, read a story about rabbits, ate red jello cut into hearts, and read the bunny poem!
